COP24 Key Outcomes

After the adoption of the Paris Agreement in 2015, the 24th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC  (COP24) was an important milestone for the international climate change regime, tasked with helping turn the Paris Agreement into action through completion of the Paris Agreement Work Programme (PAWP) and adoption of detailed rules for its implementation – the so-called Rulebook, as well as raising climate ambition through the Talanoa Dialogue and pre-2020 stocktake. Formally the Conference largely delivered on this as decisions were adopted in most areas of the Paris Agreement but, ultimately, the success of Katowice, beyond achieving multilateral agreement, will be measured by the extent to which it catalyses ambition within a narrow window of opportunity, and delivers the means to make this ambition possible. This summary consider COP24 key outcomes.
