International climate negotiations are legally and technically complex. Many developing countries, constrained by limited resources, face real challenges in participating fully. This can hinder their ability to advance national priorities, influence decisions, and shape the legal frameworks that drive global climate action.

At the domestic level, those involved in translating international commitments and opportunities into action also face similar challenges. This can affect their capacity to pursue ambitious outcomes and develop tailored, fit-for-purpose climate governance frameworks.

LRI works to address these imbalances. Our network of legal experts provides year-round, free legal support where it is needed most—both in real time during negotiations and outside negotiation sessions.

We also focus on long-term impact. Through tailored training, mentoring, and a growing database of legal resources, we help build lasting capacity among climate negotiators, law and policymakers and other stakeholders.
We provide our services in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese (in collaboration with LACLIMA)—across all areas of our work.
